4 Super-Productivity Questions to Ask Yourself By Brett McDonell

The fastest way to reach your goals as soon as possible is to increase your productivity and constantly evaluate why and how you do things. By consistently asking yourself these 4 questions throughout your work day, you will always insure your actions are moving you closer to your goals, that your actions produce the biggest result and that your processes are constantly optimized.

 

1. Is this particular action I am doing right now getting me closer to my goal or further away?

Simply put, if you’re not moving forward you’re moving backwards, there is no neutral with accomplishing goals. Asking yourself this question will remind you of what’s important and what’s not. This question will prevent you from wasting time on facebook, amazon, Instagram and the myriad of other distractions we fall victim to everyday.

 

2. Is there anyone else that can do this for me?

Top producing Mortgage Professionals don’t have anymore time in a day than anyone else. With that said, one of the main reasons they sell up to 10 times more than the average Mortgage Professional is because they focus their time on high leverage activities such as prospecting and outbound calling instead of databasing, chasing conditions, stuffing envelopes, replying to processors, sending needs lists any the thousand other tasks that come along with doing loans. This can be difficult to let go of, but you must do so in order to get to the next level. Delegate to your team, manager, processor and anyone else that benefits from you originating and closing mortgages as helping you is in their best interest and will allow you to focus on your top money making and goal reaching activities.

 

3. What is the most valuable use of my time right now?

Asking yourself this question will keep your priorities and goals top of mind and prevent you from getting off track. A great example of this would be when you’re sorting through old emails prior to calling a new lead you just got, making new prospecting calls or finalizing a new marketing campaign. These are high priority items that will grow your business and move the needle that always should be done ahead of menial tasks that can be put on the backburner, delegated or stopped completely.

 

4. How can I do what I am doing more effectively?

This question is very powerful if used consistently. Mortgage professionals that aspire to increase production must constantly optimize their systems and processes to continually get better, faster and more effective at everything they do. A simple example of this would be: Creating email templates for needs lists and other templates that are constantly being regurgitated throughout the loan process that you can simply re-use and update the names instead of re-creating generic emails, adding attachments such as loan app, borrower authorization, etc… have these pre-made and you will save tremendous time and energy that is better spent on other tasks.

By asking yourself these 4 Super productivity questions throughout your work days, you will never get off track, you will spend more time on high priority tasks and ultimately make more money, close more loans and help more people.

PS: I have these questions written and printed on a sheet near my desk so they’re constantly top of mind. Writing these on your whiteboard is also a great way to stay productive.
